Traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent Job Description

Job Summary:

This key role for a traveling commercial construction superintendent will be responsible for the overall execution of the project schedule, using a set of proven procedures, while coordinating with various subcontractors.

Job Responsibilities:

Managing the day-to-day field activities to ensure that the project milestones and overall schedule completion date is met

  • Coordination of Subcontractors to attend pre-construction, weekly-progress and other project meetings
  • Creating and maintaining a culture that values safety, respect and cleanliness among trades
  • Meeting with Project Manager and client representatives to discuss the status of projects
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems and to assure that the Project Manager is kept knowledgeable about the status of the work
  • Identifying issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
  • Populating daily reports, delivery schedule and other documentation as necessary
  • Confirm the specifications and dimensions of construction is per print and scope
  • Review quality of construction daily
  • Meet with city officials for inspections to make sure construction meets construction document requirements
  • Fill out and follow up with RFP in the field
  • Managing changes in project scope to ensure to prevent avoidable rework
  • Maintains communication with subcontractors, vendors and project team
  • Managing the punch list and project closeout process to assure timely completion
  • Requirements:
  • AS degree in Construction Management or similar or a Journeyman status in a building trade (i.e. Carpenter) AND no less than 5 years of progressive responsibility supervising commercial construction
  • A demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial
  • A working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work
  • Effective communication both in the English written and spoken word
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, email and other software used in the industry
  • Current safety credentials to include OSHA 30 1, 1st Aid and CPR

Traveling Commercial Construction Estimator Job Description

Job Summary:

Are you a technical and analytical person who enjoys a clearly-defined job scope based on proven and defined policies and procedures? Are you someone who likes a flexible work environment driven by a consistent and predictable work pace?  Then this is the job for you!

Job Deliverables:

  • Effectively navigate projects of varying size and complexity, including small projects, large projects, renovations and phased construction
  • Successfully manage clients, architects/engineers, and subcontract partners in a diligent and collaborative manner
  • Accurately review plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope
  • Prepare detailed and accurate construction estimates including, but not limited to quantity surveys, scope descriptions, pricing, preparation and distribution of bid packages, bid receipt, bid assembly, and bid analysis
  • Assure clean and complete handoffs of the estimate, bidding information, drawings, specifications, etc. to project management

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow approved estimating practices consistent with company guidelines
  • Review plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope
  • Perform quantity takeoffs
  • Compose, submit and track RFIs
  • Solicit subcontractors for bidding
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor proposals
  • Ensure timely completion of bid packages within a 2 to 3-week period
  • Develop pre-construction schedules
  • Perform value engineering, when applicable


  • Proficiencies in MC2, PlanSwift, Excel, and Adobe preferred
  • Proficiencies in preconstruction scheduling
  • Ability to build a strong relationship with subcontractors, both locally and nationally
  • Ability to assemble both labor and material estimates


  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial estimating or other quantitative work experience in various markets. (retail/healthcare/higher education/workplace, etc.)
  • Prior experience working for a general contractor a plus

Salary Range (based on experience):  $65,000 – $90,000
